Welcome to the Under 8s at Aldwinians RUFC
The Under 8s squad is made up of children who are 7 years old (Year 3 at school) as of 1st September. This age group is a fantastic step in their rugby journey, building on the foundations learned in the earlier years while keeping the emphasis firmly on fun and teamwork.
Playing Tag Rugby
From Under 6s to Under 8s, players take part in Tag Rugby – a safe, non-contact version of the sport that introduces children to the core skills of the game. At this stage, we focus on developing:
Running forwards with purpose
Evasion and agility
Passing and teamwork
Creating and using space
And of course… celebrating those tries! 🏉
From Under 7s onwards, players also take part in non-competitive friendlies against other local clubs, both at home and away. These matches are a brilliant way for children to put their new skills into practice while enjoying the excitement of playing as part of a team.
Kit and Club Pride
Every Under 8 player is provided with a club match shirt, and families also have the chance to purchase a range of additional kit such as shorts, socks, hoodies and more – perfect for showing off that Aldwinians pride on and off the pitch.
