Welcome to the Under 12s at Aldwinians RUFC

The Under 12s team is made up of children who are 11 years old (Year 7 at school) as of 1st September. This is an exciting stage, as players are now preparing to transition from minis rugby to junior rugby, learning advanced skills and taking part in more structured matches.

Training and Matches

The Under 12s train and play at Aldwinians RUFC with:

Friday evening training sessions
Sunday mornings for training and matches against other local clubs

After Sunday sessions, the team enjoys lunch together, included in the weekly subs, providing time for players to socialise, relax, and strengthen team spirit.

Developing Skills at U12s

At this age, players continue to build on their experience in contact rugby, with a focus on:

Tackling and defensive positioning
Passing under pressure and attacking lines
Game awareness and teamwork
Introduction to more advanced elements of the game, preparing them for the junior rugby pathway

Safety remains a priority, and while rugby can involve bumps and grazes, coaching is always supportive and age-appropriate.

Players will need:

A gum shield
Rugby boots with studs
Optional body armour
A responsible adult present or a nominated parent to supervise

Kit and Club Pride

All Under 12 players receive a club match shirt, with the option to purchase additional Aldwinians kit such as shorts, socks, hoodies, and more. This helps players feel proud and connected to the club on and off the pitch.
