Welcome to the Under 14s at Aldwinians RUFC

The Under 14s team is made up of children who are 13 years old (Year 9 at school) as of 1st September. At this stage, players are fully immersed in junior rugby, focusing on advanced skills, tactical awareness, and competitive match play.

Training and Matches

The Under 14s train and play at Aldwinians RUFC with:

• Friday evening training sessions

• Sunday mornings for matches and skill development against other local clubs

After Sunday sessions, the team enjoys lunch together, included in the weekly subs, giving players time to relax, socialise, and strengthen team bonds.

Developing Skills at U14s

At this age, players continue to refine their rugby skills and start to play a more structured, competitive game. Key areas of development include:

• Advanced tackling and defensive positioning

• Passing and running under pressure

• Understanding game tactics and strategies

• Teamwork, communication, and leadership on the pitch

Safety remains a priority, and while the game is physical, coaching is supportive and age-appropriate.

Players will need:

• A gum shield

• Rugby boots with studs

• Optional body armour

• A responsible adult or nominated parent to supervise at sessions

Kit and Club Pride

Every Under 14 player receives a club match shirt, with the option to purchase additional Aldwinians kit including shorts, socks, hoodies, and more to show club pride.
