Welcome to the Under 13s at Aldwinians RUFC

The Under 13s team is made up of children who are 12 years old (Year 8 at school) as of 1st September. This age group marks the start of junior rugby, where players build on their minis rugby experience and begin to experience a more competitive, structured game.

Training and Matches

The Under 13s train and play at Aldwinians RUFC with:

Friday evening training sessions
Sunday mornings for matches and skill development against local clubs

After matches, players continue to enjoy the Aldwinians tradition of team lunches, included in the weekly subs, giving them a chance to relax and bond as a team.

Developing Skills at U13s

At this stage, the game introduces more advanced elements of rugby, including:

Tactical awareness and positional play
Passing and running under pressure
Contact skills, including rucking and mauling
Decision-making and teamwork in a more competitive environment

Players are encouraged to challenge themselves while learning in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.

To participate, players will need:

A gum shield
Rugby boots with studs
Optional body armour
A responsible adult or nominated parent to supervise at sessions

While rugby at this age is physical, safety and enjoyment remain the club’s top priorities.

Kit and Club Pride

Every Under 13 player receives a club match shirt, and families can purchase additional kit such as shorts, socks, hoodies, and more to show club pride both on and off the pitch.
