What’s baking
From a hidden kitchen…
The Hidden Kitchen was founded by Fern, who has been baking from home since 2012. What started in the family kitchen as a hobby — treats and desserts for friends and family — soon grew more popular as word spread, until Fern was taking over the family kitchen altogether.
Fern’s dad Paul (aka Paulo) gave up half of his garage to be turned into a baking space, with a wall built down the middle — the kitchen in the back half, hence “hidden.” Fern baked there for years, until it was time to take over the other half of the garage too, in exchange for a shiny new shed for Paulo — and the Kitchen finally had a front door.
As the business kept growing, Fern took the leap in early 2023 and moved to a bigger premises — currently on Stamford Street Central in Ashton-under-Lyne — hoping to keep the same standards of home-baked quality that started it all.
